Janeé Hanzlick
County Commissioner, District 4
Dear Neighbors, Friends, and Supporters,
For the past eight years, it has been my privilege to serve Johnson County as the Commissioner for District 4. With deep gratitude for that honor, I have decided not to seek re-election to a third term.
I am proud of the progress we have made together during my two terms, especially in better meeting the needs of our most vulnerable residents. We have strengthened emergency services and public safety, increased access to affordable housing, expanded mental health services, and increased energy efficiency and sustainability.
We completed a strategic plan for an improved transit system, initiated a property tax rebate program for low-income homeowners, strengthened regional collaboration, and ensured the availability of extreme weather shelters for our unhoused neighbors. I am especially grateful to have been part of the County’s life-saving leadership during an unprecedented worldwide pandemic. We achieved all this while being fiscally responsible and making efficient and effective use of taxpayers’ money.
While I will be stepping away from elected office at the conclusion of my term in January 2027, I will not stop working to further the success of our county and region. I am confident that Johnson County will continue to thrive and lead the way in Kansas and the metro area.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
